Heavy Reading just released a survey saying 98 percent of telecom operators are at least somewhat satisfied with OPNFV. Wow, OPNFV must be kicking butt! Maybe, but that data point doesn’t prove it. Looking at the question’s wording, it asks if the project is helping accelerate open source NFV adoption. Starting at such a low level of use, it would be difficult not to make adoption grow somewhat. That being said, the stat is significant because it indicates that there is general approval for OPNFV in the telecommunications industry.
We are currently analyzing the results from our Kubernetes User Experience survey, but one figure stood out. Based on 173 production-level users of Kubernetes, 99 percent said their implementation has either completely or substantially met their IT or business goals. We view the figure skeptically because people that evaluated Kubernetes and decided not to use it were not asked about this subject. We have lots of other questions, like if someone has used Kubernetes for less than a year, can they really judge how well it is doing against? Couldn’t most competitive orchestration solutions also reduce app deployment time? Despite our doubts, the data is positive and bodes well for Kubernetes. Stay tuned as The New Stack publishes the survey results in its Kubernetes ebook series launching this summer.
