Once again we are seeing a Kubernetes trend mirror a Docker trend. Both technologies started with many more job postings mentioning the keyword Kubernetes or Docker as compared to job seekers looking for those terms. Yet, they also follow a similar pattern where they approach a one-to-one ratio. Looking at Indeed.com, there are over five times as many job openings mentioning Docker as compared to Kubernetes, but in both cases, the actual number of jobs are increasing rapidly. Therefore, the change in job postings vs. job seekers is mostly due to a higher rate of people searching for jobs that include Kubernetes in their description. As you look to learn a new technology in 2017, remember that even if Kubernetes wins the container orchestration wars, it is still just a subset of a larger group of container-related adoption patterns.
