Central IT departments are in constant fear of being sidelined. The c-suite knows the enterprise cannot be transformed without so-called digital transformation. While there has been a lot said about how IT can respond to this disruption, IDG recently reported something quantifiable being done. Over half of the respondents in their recent survey have an IT liaison role whose responsibility is to facilitate knowledge sharing and project management between lines of IT and business. Using this approach, IT is staying involved with creating vendor short lists and evaluating technologies. Thus, it has an opportunity to steer its involvement with a company’s digital transformation efforts.
